Cloud Services & Migrations in Lubbock, TX

An aging server in a closet, files only reachable at the office, and a VPN that crawls when someone works from home: that's where a lot of West Texas businesses start. Double Technologies plans and carries out cloud migrations for businesses in Lubbock and across the region, moving files, email and servers to Microsoft 365 and Azure when it makes sense, and keeping things local when that's the better fit.

Cloud services and migrations are available to our managed IT clients and can be added for co-managed IT clients. Our team brings 30 years of combined experience, and we can come to you for the on-site parts of a move, from setting up laptops to pulling the old server. Call (806) 319-8521 to talk through your options.

Signs It's Time to Look at the Cloud

  • Your server is old or out of support, and replacing it with another box doesn't feel right.

  • Staff work from home, the road or job sites and struggle to reach files.

  • You've added locations, like a second office in Midland or Amarillo, and need everyone on the same files.

  • Power blips, storms or hardware failures at the office take everyone offline.

  • An insurer or auditor is asking about backups, MFA and where your data lives.

What We Move and Manage

Files to SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams

We map your existing shared drives and folders into SharePoint sites and Teams with the right permissions, so people find things where they expect them. Personal files go to OneDrive.

Email to Microsoft 365

Moving from on-premises Exchange, hosted email or another provider into Exchange Online, with mailboxes, calendars and contacts intact. Ongoing care is covered by our Microsoft 365 management service.

Servers and Applications to Azure

For applications that still need a server, we can move them to Azure virtual machines or recommend the cloud version of the software where your vendor offers one.

Identity and Device Management

Moving sign-ins to Microsoft Entra ID, joining computers to it and managing devices with Microsoft Intune, so a new laptop can be set up anywhere and a lost one can be locked or wiped.

Hybrid Setups

Some line-of-business software, equipment or slow rural internet connections make a local server the right choice. We'll tell you honestly when a hybrid setup, or staying on-premises, makes more sense.

How a Migration Works

  • 1. Assess. We inventory your servers, data, applications, internet connections and licenses, and talk to the people who use them.

  • 2. Plan. You get a written plan covering what moves, what stays, the order, the timeline and how we'll protect data along the way.

  • 3. Pilot. We move a small group first to catch surprises.

  • 4. Migrate. The main move is scheduled around your business to limit disruption, with data verified before anything old is turned off.

  • 5. Support and clean up. We help staff on their first days, then retire old hardware and wipe drives securely.

Security and Backup in the Cloud

Moving to the cloud doesn't move responsibility for your data. We turn on MFA and secure sign-in policies, set sharing rules and back up Microsoft 365 data through our backup and disaster recovery service, because Microsoft's built-in retention is not the same as a backup. Cloud sign-ins can also be watched through our managed firewall and security monitoring service, and email security protects the mailboxes you've just moved.

Planning a Bigger Change?

If the cloud move is part of a larger decision, like a new office, a merger or a server replacement, our IT consulting and vCIO services can build the roadmap and budget first. Office moves often pair well with a network refresh.

Related Industries

Healthcare practices need cloud setups that support HIPAA requirements and a business associate agreement with the provider. Law firms need secure document access from the courthouse or home. Banks, CPAs and financial firms need access controls and audit trails that hold up to examiners.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should my business move to the cloud?

Often, but not in every case. If your server is aging and staff need access from anywhere, the cloud usually makes sense. Some software, equipment or limited rural internet still favors a local or hybrid setup, and we'll tell you which fits.

How long does a cloud migration take?

It depends on how much data you have, how many people and applications are involved and your internet speed. You get a timeline in the written plan before work begins.

Will we lose data or have downtime?

We plan migrations to protect data, verify everything before old systems are turned off and schedule the main move around your business to limit disruption.

Is Microsoft 365 backed up automatically?

Microsoft keeps your data available, but its retention settings are not a full backup. We recommend a separate Microsoft 365 backup that can restore deleted or encrypted data.

Can you move our file server to SharePoint?

Yes. We map your shared drives and folders to SharePoint sites and Teams with the right permissions, and help staff learn where everything lives.

Do you only work with Microsoft?

No. Microsoft 365 and Azure are our main cloud platforms, and we also support Google Workspace and the cloud versions of business software your vendors offer.

Who can use your cloud services?

Cloud services and migrations are available to our managed IT clients, and co-managed IT clients can add them for specific projects. Either way, we support and secure what we move.
